Camila Escalante is a journalist and news correspondent recognized for her in-the-field reporting in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Since her years as a broadcast editor, presenter and anchor at teleSUR English—working from newsrooms in Quito, Caracas and Havana—Camila has delivered first-hand reporting from key events across the region.

Camila co-founded Kawsachun News alongside Oliver Vargas in 2020, following her field reporting in Bolivia during the 2019 military coup, with the purpose of sharing the continent’s socialist projects and anti-imperialist struggles with a wider international audience.

Over the years, her reporting has taken her to major political developments in Venezuela, Nicaragua, Brazil, Colombia and across the region. Her audiovisual and written coverage can be found in PressTV, Sovereign Media, and in various other outlets.
