Honduran leftist candidate slams U.S. election meddling

Rixi Moncada says she will not accept the results of the rigged results transmission system.

In an interview with teleSUR, presidential candidate of the left-wing Partido Libre, Rixi Moncada, denounces that Hondurans were sent millions of messages which threatened to cut remittances from the U.S. if she were to win the election—in a country heavily reliant on remittances.

“I do not accept the results transmission system because it is a rigged system—tainted, with internal mechanisms that do not allow for a transparent, free, democratic election. Using social media platforms, they sent out three messages: the president of the United States saying, “Do not vote for candidate Moncada. I cannot work with her, she is a communist.” This is interference—brutal, direct interference.”

“I will accept the results that appear in 100% of the tally sheets that we receive in our party’s system. Once they are verified against the data held by the National Electoral Council—because that transmission system has no credibility at any of the three electoral levels.”

Rixi Moncada’s proposal to end privileges for the powerful put her at odds with the oligarchs and Washington. Watch the clip here.
