Nicaragua signs contracts with Chinese companies in transport, tech and comms

The agreements strengthen cooperation in connectivity, logistics, transportation, and defense.

A delegation of the Government of the Republic of Nicaragua that is in Beijing to attend the IX Ministerial Meeting of the China Forum – CELAC, signed on Sunday, May 11, a series of contracts with Chinese companies, strengthening cooperation with the People’s Republic of China.

A contract was signed with the companies ZMJ/HUAWEI for a Digital Connectivity Project to strengthen telecommunications in Nicaragua, a contract with the company of International Communications Services of China (CCSI) for the installation of intelligent logistics management platforms at the Julia Herrera Logistics Center in Corinto, a contract with the company YUTONG for the supply of buses and municipal cleaning machinery; and a contract with the company POLY Technologies for the supply of equipment for the Nicaraguan Army to strengthen the defense of sovereignty and peace.

In addition to signing the documents, the Nicaraguan delegation held meetings with the Chinese companies HUADIAN and POWERCHINA with which the Tumarin and Mojolka hydroelectric projects are working; and with companies of the Nicaragua/China Chamber of Commerce for the development of mining, banking, industrial and commercial exchange projects.

The Nicaraguan delegation is made up of Presidential Advisor Laureano Ortega Murillo, Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke, President of the Central Bank Ovidio Reyes, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Oscar Mojica, Inspector General of the Army of Nicaragua Gral. Marvin Corrales, Director of INATEC Loyda Barreda, Minister of Environment and Natural Resources Javier Gutiérrez, Director of Financial Markets of the MHCP Carlos Selva and Ambassador to China, Ramiro Cruz.
