Roundup: Nicolás Maduro delivers annual message to the nation

For 2024, Venezuela saw the lowest inflation in 12 years while significantly increasing agricultural production, trade and manufacturing.

On Wednesday evening, Venezuelan president Nicolas Maduro delivered the Annual Message to the Nation address. Speaking before members of the National Assembly and supporters at the Teresa Carreño Cultural Theatre Complex in Caracas, he opened the speech by stating that 2025, “must be a year marked by gatherings, meetings, speaking (to one another), dialogue, and, above all, coexistence, tolerance and peace.”

Maduro expressed the need to “continue refining our common dreams, our common plans and to continue building with our own hands…our own intelligence and our own effort to continue building the common home, Patria Grande, our beloved Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.”

During his address, Maduro said “university was the common people and my teacher, Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, instilled in us the values of a new society: our socialism in Our America. My term as president has begun for the good of Latin America and the Caribbean.”

He also lauded the sacrifices made by those who defend the Bolivarian Revolution. “If we have a country at holy peace,” Maduro stressed, “it is because we have defeated hatred, fascism, intolerance and that victory belongs to the good Venezuelans.”

Recently sworn in for his third term in office, the president congratulated popular people power, the police, and military in “controlling and neutralizing the fascist outbreak on July 28, 29 and 30, rejecting…the call for a military invasion made by Leopoldo López, María Corina Machado and Álvaro Uribe…More than 150 mercenaries of 25 different nationalities are convicted and practically all have confessed. They intended to fill public services with bombs and attacks.”

Maduro pointed out the daily “cyber war attacks” against the Bolivarian Revolution, as well as what he called the “media coup d’état” and the “first cyber-fascist coup d’état” attempts.

Reiterating how much Venezuela’s national consciousness has risen over the past year, Maduro stated, “those who act without reason, the Venezuelan fascists together with Colombian paramilitarism are calling for a military invasion. They do not know what they are saying! We have made progress with everything involving intelligence…We have consolidated seven years of peace, which has allowed us to formulate, through great consensus dialogue, responses to over 1,027 sanctions against the military, police, and institutional economic bodies of the country.”

Maduro criticized neo-imperialist and neo-colonialist Europe and their heirs who “murdered 80 million brothers and sisters here, who intend to impose their interventionist formula and a second Juan Guaidó. They are heirs of the genocidaires…This was the work of the colonialist, slave-owning and genocidal elite. We will not keep quiet about this truth!”

The president also expressed a message of peace to all, saying, “Christ walks among women, young people, peasants, and carries his light along the Roads of America…We have raised our heads. Venezuela united in one voice will be a country that shines in Latin America.”
